Every Licensed Hygienist in Virginia has completed an Associate or Baccalaureate degree in an accredited institution, focusing on the science and practice of Dental Hygiene. Dental Hygienists may also hold Masters of Science and Doctoral Degrees. Dental hygienists possess specialized knowledge and skills necessary to provide preventive and therapeutic oral health care to clients in a variety of settings.
There are currently eight institutions in the state of Virginia which provide associates, bachelors or masters degrees in dental hygiene.
